As a guide, each time the signal passes through an obstacle you should allow a reduction of about 20 meters so, for example if the PIR is located the other side of an outbuilding, then the signal will have to pass through both walls of the outbuilding AND the wall of the house to reach the receiver unit reducing the effective range by up to 60 meters.
